Humidity Near Washing Stations

Areas near hair washing basins or spa treatment rooms with water features face genuinely elevated humidity and occasional direct moisture exposure. Moisture-resistant finishes, including appropriately specified vinyl wallcoverings, can be considered for lower-splash areas, but wallpaper should still be kept away from direct water contact and installed on a dry, stable wall.

Designer Tip: Choosing textured wallpaper finishes such as genuine grasscloth or subtle linen-look designs can help create the calm, premium atmosphere clients expect from a spa; natural-fibre options, however, should remain in dry, low-contact areas.

Chemical Exposure in Treatment Areas

Hair colouring products, nail treatments, and various spa products can occasionally contact walls near where they're used. Durable, wipeable finishes are generally more practical near treatment stations than delicate decorative wallpaper, but any wallpaper cleaning method should follow the manufacturer's care instructions, especially after contact with treatment products.

Installer Tip: Map out where specific treatments happen before finalising wallpaper placement — a hair colouring station and a simple consultation area have quite different practical demands, even within the same salon.

Reception: Setting the First Impression

The reception and waiting area shapes a client's first impression, so commercial wallpaper selection here can prioritise atmosphere and visual character, while treatment rooms need closer attention to moisture exposure, cleanability and durability.
